Sponsor Education

Sponsor Education

For £18.75 a month, you can give a child at Bethel School access to life changing education and antidiabetic health care.

For £7 a month, you can give a child a nutritious meal every day they are at school – feeding both bodies and minds.

Access to health care and education are crucial to the children in Burkina Faso; one of the poorest countries in the world. At Bethel School, we want to see our children blossom – with healthy bodies and nourished minds. ‘Nothing is more powerful than a full stomach and a literate tongue’ Nelson Mandela

Aguiratou de S. OUEDRAOGO

‘My name is Aguiratou and there are 19 in my family.  I travel 30 minutes by foot to school and often we do not have drinking water all day. My family is very poor and struggled to pay my school fees. Thank you to the sponsors for I will now do very well at school.’

Giving Africa isn’t big and bureaucratic. We have a very special and personal relationship with the people we work with.  When you sponsor a child with us you will get a unique and in-depth insight into their and their community’s life.

We will send you:
*  A profile of your child and their family

*  Photos twice a year so you can see them progress as they grow

*  Letters twice a year saying what is going on in their lives and at school

*  Progress report on how they feel they are doing at school

*  Updates on Giving Africa’s other work

Your sponsored child will tell you in their own words how the Scholarship fund is helping them, their family and their community.

Our partner, AEAD,  has worked determinedly, for over 20 years, to support children through education: as a route to giving them opportunities to improve their lives.  In 2013, whilst Giving Africa was visiting the school, the AEAD staff informed us that they had personally taken on the role of financially supporting a child through their education: this truly inspired us to launch the Child Scholarship Fund!

Currently we support over 250 of the most vulnerable children at Bethel through the ‘Food for Thought Programme’, which for £7 a month (£85 per year) provides a nutritious meal every day. Now we have the opportunity to sponsor vulnerable children through their education at Bethel School: ensuring that they can stay in school and complete their education. Many things can result in children being pulled from school: losing a parent, girls staying home to look after family and financial difficulties are also all too common. You can give a child the chance to complete their education, giving them hope for a better future and the opportunity to lift themselves and their family from poverty.

We continue to work towards our goal of giving access to more children and improving the quality of education for children at Bethel School, if you would like to help us achieve this by contributing towards the Scholarship fund then please contact caroline@givingafrica.org for more information.
